The batteries were available not long ago from Kenwood. I just ordered one
for a 940 I was working on. And while I didn't specifically pursue this,
the battery appeared to be generic enough that you should be able to get
one from a supplier like Dantona.

Subject: [Kenwood] More Ts940s Questions
Seems I have a bad battery for the "sub-display." It's located on the
"SW (L)" board. My service manual shows it on parts layout, but no
schematic, and nothing on the parts descriptions section. Also, I
notice a 3v battery on the "digital A" board. Is this battery field
changeable, or factory only?
Anyone have any idea of the part number for this (these) batteries? I
see parts are getting scarce for these great war horses, Kenwood said
there was only one 20mhz xtal in the whole US. Also, SO-1's are not
available. Probably used ones will be hard to find 'cause they're too
much trouble to remove from '940's when sold on the used market.
Any help much appreciated...........Thanks, K6ZL
