[Kenwood] Kenwood redefines Warranty

I'm gonna play devils advocate here so don't shoot me.
My understanding of warranty is that when it's broke they fix it. This
assumes that you didn't break it, it broke cause they used bad parts,
bad robots, bad packing, whatever.
I don't think Kenwood nor a lot of other manufacturers would consider
new features and upgrades as falling in the above category. You want
more toys, you pays more money. This sounds like business to me, mind
you I'd be crying too if I was in the same boat.

Subject: [Kenwood] Kenwood redefines Warranty
Over this past week I learned that kenwood is now supplying dealers with
TM-D700A mobiles with upgraded firmware. The upgrade, according to
Kenwood, enables the transceiver to communicate with the latest Garmin
GPS's. My TM-D700A is only a few months old and does not have this
upgraded firmware so, I asked for the details and learned that they
(Kenwood) want 65ドル to flash in the upgrade as a "special" comm cable is
required. I explained that my radio is but a few months old but they
told me too bad. So if you want to use your TM-D700A with your new
Garmin GPS bend over 'cause they ain't gonna give it to ya under
warranty. I disagree with that, how about other TM-D700A owners? Gary
