Mine's done that since almost new. I've always been hesitant to replace it 
because it looks like a mechanical nightmare to disassemble. However, last 
time I used the rig you only had to breathe on the control and the rig 
would shift freq, so I thinks its time get to it.
Keep me informed if you decide to work on yours, and where you buy the part.
