I did a little research on the DC-DC Converter board
(X59-1100-001) using the 850 service manual as this
board has been a source of problems in the 850 (not
mine YET!). It looks like a simple circuit to repair
as it uses discrete components (only 10) or possibly
replace the entire thing with one of the newer DC-DC
converter ICs. The DC input to the board is 12.5V and
the output is shown as -6.1V, thats it! This then
supplies the -6.1V to the IF board (ALC?) and to RF
board. The -6.1V output passes thru a 470 ohm resistor
on the DC-DC board so the current it is suppling is
relatively low. At this point, is doesn't look like
something too hard to improve upon. Wonder is anyone
ever did any troubleshooting of a bad board, and if
so, what component(s) failed. Will keep looking...
