Kelley,
The SM-220 can only use the IF output for a bandscope if the panadaptor
is installed. There's a BS-8 for 8.83MHz IF use, and a BS-5 for
3.395MHz IF.
Without one of these options, the SM-220 is not usable as a spectrum
scope. However, it is still usable to: monitor the RF output of your
TX, monitor the linearity of your amplifier, tuning indicator for RTTY,
and general 10MHz oscilloscope duties including SSB exciter adjustment
using the built in two-tone generator.
If your unit has one of the panadaptors, one option that you have to use
the bandscope function is to use an external mixer and oscillator to
down-convert your 73.62MHz IF down to the frequency required by
panadaptor installed. This might get a little tricky, but it is in
theory possible.
I hope this info helps.
