[Kenwood] TS-440SAT display

The rig transmits (100w into a dummy load) and the display actually
"strobed" somewhat (right to left digits) then went blank. A row of dots
never showed. After two to three minutes of testing on 30 meters in CW
mode, I heard a snap from the rig, a pop from the power supply as it's fuse
opened. A faint smell of some component going south was detected from the
rig. Both 20 amp fuses in the factory supplied power cord are fine but the
20 amp fuse in the power supply died. When I let up on the key during
testing and before the fuse opened, the display reappeared during receive.
I haven't applied power to the rig after the fuse opened.
Thanks for the help,
Mike

Does it quit transmitting or just the display go away and stays away while
you are transmitting??? The PLL unlock problem is on TX and RX both and is
indicated by a row of dots in the display.
