I have a 2KD3 that is giving me problems. I have used it for years and never used in an overloaded harmful way. Previous owner had run the tubes until the solder melted out.years ago. I replaced the two tubes with new ones and it worked fine for a while. And then the series filaments began acting u with one tube not lighting out..
I replaced the tube sockets with NEW EF Johnson ceramic tube sockets. That corrected the problem for a while. I replaced the tubes with a NEW pair of 3-500Z tubes. Worked well with filaments lighting up properly for several times.
NOW the new tubes are not lighting up. Only one faintly lights up. I have another pair and replace them again to just check to see if the tube filaments are the problems.
Another problem that seems unrelated is multimeter shows NO plate voltage even when there is normal RF output power. I suspected the four multiplying resistors and the meter. I sent the multimeter to Mr. Banally at th sound company and he sent the meter back to say the multimeter was GOOD. Today I checked from the HV input through the metering circuit to the adjustment pot and checked for cold solder joints an th resistors and solder joints are all good. That indicates that the problem is between the adjustment pot and the multimeter switch or in the multimeter switch. There is plate voltage, just none on the multimeter indication..
