Clark,
SUPER!! This is only the second time that I have known about the CO file being
corrupted .. but, am happy to read that Fred is back in business!

 Joe,

As always, you 'da MAN! I did another TeamViewer session with
Fred and copied the "default.co" file from his other computer to the
one that was acting up. Problem solved!

I looked at the original default.co file on the first computer
and it was indeed corrupted. Putting the new file in place of the
bad one did the trick and Fred is back in operation.

Thank you for the prompt and CORRECT assessment of the problem!

Clark and Fred, what you might try is to make a NEW column order
 CO file ..
It is very possible that that CO file (which is normally titled
 as default.co or
mylog.co, etc etc) got corrupted .. I have only seen one other
 time that the CO
 file got corrupted ...

Fred might even have another copy of the CO file that dxbase
 uses -- and
he can simply copy that one over to the computer where he is
 having the
 problems..
