I am not a programmer for sure and I do not know the ins and outs of
computers and the associated software. Let me pass on my experience in
upgrading to v1.09. I was under the impression that it was ready to go and
all you had to do was follow the directions. Well first off make sure you
have all the directions before you start. Here is what happened to me.
I went to the site and downloaded the zip file. Then I unzipped the file
and followed the directions.
At one point it asked me if I wanted to import my DXB2006 files, figuring I
had been using DXB2007 for some time know I said to my self no, I should be
importing my 2007 files. So I said no, the process continues and everything
looks ok. Watching the progress "meter" it get to about 3/4 of the way and
up pops a box that says "Windows Installer, Service Cannot update the system
file
c;\windows\system32\p2pgraph.dll because the file is protected by windows.
And it asks me what I want to do. I have two options ok or quit, well if
there is a problem I want to stop the install, wrong answer. First off if
you see the above popup window appear you are supposed to say OK and say yes
to allowing the installer import your DXB2006 files.
As it turns out it appears that I am left with a situation that I have to
wait for Version 10 at which time I will be able to save and reload my
settings manually. The version of DXBase 1.05 that I was using yesterday
will not come up for me either.
Sorry for the bandwidth but I wanted to pass this bit of information on in
case you are thinking of
downloading and upgrading to V1.09 remember the correct answers that I
talked about above. I just hope that I can save someone from my situation.
I would like to uninstall V1.09 some how or what is left of it. Then start
the process all over again and let the installer ask me the same questions
again. I wonder if this is a viable option.
