Neal:
I'm a Win 7 newbie wrestling with UAC. I have it *on* - next to the
highest level, and assume it's a good thing not to defeat UAC.
But I have a couple of programs (DX Monitor and Acronis) that, when
clicked to open, bring up the UAC message: Do you want to allow the
following program to make changes to your computer? If I click *yes*,
DX Monitor or Acronis will open normally.
I find this behavior annoying, and would prefer the program to open
immediately without the UAC message.
*_Is there a way to make programs bypass the UAC message and open
normally?_ (*Opening as Administrator still brings up the UAC message)
*__
*I have tried simply turning off UAC. (Again, I gather this is not a
good idea). DX Monitor then opened normally, as did my other programs,
*except DXBase*.
When I tried to open DXBase, I got a message to the effect "cannot open
this program from C:\Program Files/k6rim.mdb"
That's interesting, because DXBase is installed in C:/DXbase_2007, not
in Program Files. And why would it not use the normal .exe file?
In any event, here's my second question:
_*If I want to turn UAC off, how do I get DXBase to start? *(i.e., how
do I solve the path issue mentioned above?)
_With thanks and 73,
Al, K6RIM
