[Dxbase] Dxbase Digest, Vol 59, Issue 14

DXBasers:
Another long-time user of DXBase, since the days of DOS.
I agree that LOTW needs tweaking on DXBase, as others have mentioned.
All things being equal, I'd prefer to stay with DXBase, since I know it
well and like it a lot.
But all things are becoming less equal, as other loggers have moved with
the times, and DXBase has lagged.
At this time, I feel that it would be appropriate for Jack to make his
intentions known to his loyal following.
If Jack plans to continue to support and upgrade DXBase, then I will
stay with him and his excellent software; if not, I'd like to know so
that I can start learning new software and move on.
73,
Al, K6RIM

By LOTW support, most people mean "one click" - you click, it generates the ADI, signs it, and sends it, no "export to adif", then having to go into TSQL, sign, then email/go to web page. The API is there, but... How about having the LOTW report right inside dxBase? Not having to close the database, import, and the update statistics.

It's hard (VERY VERY hard) to justify the expense of a major rewrite, in fact, it's nearly impossible to justify writing the software in the first place, unless you have a LOT of free (as in non-billable) time, with nothing else to do.
>> DXBase does MOST of what I'd like/need it to do, and does it well. Jack honestly doesn't owe us anything. That said, I'd like to hear if there are any plans for an upgrade
