[Dxbase] VISTA and DXb 2006

Humm, I guess I'm not sure how Vista will handle a D drive. I've never
tried using another drive designation. I think Vista intrudes on file
updates made by programs if that program is installed in the Program Files
path. That's when Vista starts storing the data in the Virtual Store
location. I've heard of others who recommend installing programs at the
root directory level, rather than in Program Files, as a way to circumvent
the intrusion of Vista's file manipulation (all in an effort to keep you
safe, you understand!). I think another option is to disable User Account
Control in Vista to prevent it from being such a nanny. If you have your
stuff installed at the root directory on the D drive I think Vista will run
it much the same as XP does.
