Why not just put a shortcut on your desktop. Right click "D:/" (or 
whatever you want) and from the drop down list select,"Create 
Shortcut". Depending on what the item is it may say that it can't place 
it here and do you want it on the desktop. In this case you do, so 
click yes. If you're creating a shortcut to a single folder or file, it 
will place the new shortcut in the folder you're currently working with; 
just drag it to the desktop and rename it if you prefer.
I have a shortcut on my desktop that points to the actual path to DXBase 
files that Vista uses, as AL9A points out. I discovered this 
characteristic of Vista some time ago and thought I shared it here, but 
it may have been in private email between Jack, Joe and me.
