Pete I'm not familiar with the ft100d. but right off the bat, most Yaesu products demand 2 stop bits. Check that in the port setup. So in Radio one (I'm assuming). You would have the Yaesu fT100d selected and the appropriate com port. 4800 baud, word length 8, None Parity and Stop Bits 2. these are pretty common parameters for Yaesu FT series. Make sure you have no other conflict with that com port.
