I'm also missing what you're missing Gary. I see the same behavior as
you. Since I began using DXbase for Windows (1998?), I've never had a
problem with starting DXbase with the radio off. DXbase tries to QSY
the radio and waits for a timeout, so log entries take a little longer,
but no error messages occur at any time. When I turn the radio on later
in a DXbase session, the radio interface just starts working. If the
radio is on the next time I start DXbase, it just works. I never have
to go into Tools | Options | etc. to turn anything back on.
This behavior has been the same across every version of DXbase I've used
(that would be all of them except 2006, which I skipped), including
2007.
I wonder what's different about our setups compared to K2GN's? Also,
over the years I've used DXbase with three different computers that I
can recall and have had the same good behavior from all of them.
One thing to note: I'm not using a USB serial port adapter, but a "real"
9-pin serial port on my PC. For a while I used two radios with DXbase.
The second radio was hooked up with a USB serial adapter, and I recall
getting K2GN's error message, and problem, when I started DXbase if the
USB adapter wasn't connected.
