IMHO
Spider is a bit more advanced than ARU.
Easier and slightly more filtering options.
CCCluster is Lee's own Node software.
Much easier and far more filtering options.
The one filtering option that makes the decision for me is what I call the 'IDIOT' filter, 
the ability to enter a callsign and NEVER see a spot from, to, or about that callsign or 
announcements, ever again.
CCCluster also has a very advanced 'ALERT' option that you can specify callsigns you only 
want to have special ALERT notification for on specific bands, specific modes etc.
So...if you waiting for that last country you need on 160, you can EASILY set it so that 
it only alerts you if BS7H comes on the only mode you need, RTTY on 160.
Or ... whatever. lol
I used this quite extensively during the latest multiple stations from Montenegro.
I could set it very quickly to alert me for YU6AO on certain band/modes, 4O3T on his 
band/modes, and each time I worked that band/mode, remove it from the Alert list.

I had a quick look the other day but did not find the difference between the
three types of DX clusters. I am sure that I understand the ARC format, but
what is a CC Cluster or a Spider?

The ARUser program has undergone many updates in past months. Lee has three
different nodes presently running. The three choices are:
VE7CC ARC
VE7CC-1 CC Cluster
VE7CC-2 Spider
Dependant on which of these three DIFFERENT software systems, filters work
differently. I suggest, VE7CC-1, which is the new CCcluster software and
provides the most filtering
options and ease of use.
