[Dxbase] DXbase2006 updated Refdata mdb file

I guess that is the point the Greg is making.
Since the 'updates' are actually changed, real world data, there is no
reason why anyone who wished could click on an 'update' button on the dxbase
website and update that file. Certainly the same information will be in the
base ref. file when the new release hits the streets.
And it should be smart enough to not touch any changed info the user
entered. In the case of user entered data that would be overwritten a simple
'choose which one you want to keep' dialog box would suffice.
This is functionality that is commonplace with most windows applications and
should be supported by dxbase too. For the price of the program it shouldn't
become the users responsibility to keep the reference database accurate by
hand entering the information, that's what computers are for!
Just my 2 cents worth,
Jim, KK1W

I'm not so sure it's that complicated Greg.
DXBase is so customizable (is that a word) that it can be all things to
'most' people.
I'm not interested in certain aspects of the hobby, so I don't really need a
file that
contains those data elements.
But I am interested in IOTA, so I update the occasional new IOTA entry.
I no longer update managers and their addresses, as those are so readily
available on the
web. But when W3HNK announced his new mailing address, I updated that one as
it's a
constant and frequently needed entry.
I find adding the occasional new prefix or iota information no more
difficult or time
consuming then updating my Quicken checkbook.
Without the ability to enter what I want, when I want, we would have to wait
and watch for
updates.
I would rather enter info I need my self, that download a new file that may,
not have or
overwrite info that I want to keep.
