HELP!!!
I installed an Idiom Press rotor card into my Yaesu G-800-DXA rotor after
performing the required calibration. While still in the terminal emulation
mode following calibration of the rotor card, I was able to enter a manual
command to change the antenna azimuth and the rotor responded.
My operating system is Microsoft Windows XP Home and I'm using DXbase 2006.
In DXbase I entered the necessary rotor info in the sub-menu for Rotor #1.
In doing so, I selected COM Port #1. DXbase returned a citation stating
"Unable to Open <Rotor> COMM Port." I receive a similar citation when
selecting COMM Port #2, for which my computer is not equipped. However, when
COMM Port #3 is selected DXbase does not issue the citation. My computer
doesn't have three COMM ports.
When I attempt to rotate the antenna by selecting various rotor control
icons or by double clicking on the long path and short path in the DX
Summary Window, the rotor doesn't respond, which gives the indication that
the logging program is not in communications with COMM Port #3, which is
logical because as far as I know, I don't have a COMM Port #3, but in DXbase
it is the only COMM Port that doesn't provide the "Unable to Open <Rotor>
COMM Port."
I don't think this is related, but when in the terminal emulator mode to
calibrate the rotor card, the instructions were to set the baud rate at
4800. However, in the Rotor #1 sub-menu in DXbase, when Yaesu rotor is
selected, it automatically set the baud rate to 9600. I tried both 4800 and
9600 to no avail.
I believe the problem is between DXbase and the COMM Port, but I haven't
been able to figure it out. Any ideas????
