This is not true, I use the same comport for both CW keying and Icom rig
interface. Of course you need an extra transistor for keying, and that is
not in the standard CT-17. I build my own rig interface based on the
MAX-232 chip, and have the keyin transistor in the same box. You must
normally set CTS and RTS hih/on on the radio setting, but be careful to not
set the DTR, as that is being used for keyin. But, have to make an
'special' cable to route the DTR+GND to the control the keyin transistor,
and the other pins goes to the rig interface.

I think the problem here is that Larry is trying to run both the Icom rig
interface and the CW keying interface on the same com port. You cannot key
CW on an Icom rig through the CI interface and I believe DxBase will not
support CW keying and rig interfacing on the same come port. I ran into
this issue quite some time ago with my Icom and ended up having to add more
com ports to the PC.
