Thanks for the valuable input from several different fellows that are more
familiar then myself with workings of DXbase interfacing the Q's to LoTW.
Right off the bat I should say, the problem I was having was not caused from
DXbase 2006 or the LoTW database. Nor as can it be blamed on Bill Gates.
<grin>
While sitting in a doctor's office yesterday, I was thinking of something
our retired fireman friend had said about call mix-ups. Remembering I had
entered a call, uploaded it and finding later I had made a type-o from his
QSL card. The call was corrected and sent off to LoTW once again. At the
time I thought the other call would magically disappear - it didn't. So now
I know were one extra call in LoTW came from and when I got home last night
I easily found that extra call in LoTW.
The next call was not so easy to find. I actually scrolled through the LoTW
database manually looking for a QSO in the LoTW database and not showing in
my DXbase log. Sure enough I found it, it appears to be one that while
creating a DXbase QSL card I must have deleted this adjacent call. My
mistake again, I will leave it as finger problems. I know Joe has some
pretty nifty DXbase plug-ins designed to help us all. But even Joe with his
magic would have not have been able to help me and my stupid finger errors.
The moral is, before creating an LoTW.ADI file from DXbase for LoTW, do
double check your file for accuracy - AS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CHANGE IT
LATER - it is the LAST chance you ever get.
Finally after adding your log to LoTW, do NOT delete anything. Even if wrong
in your personal log after sending it to LoTW, as no changes are possible in
the LoTW database. For now, I will simply just put a 'BAD QSO' remark in the
Comment field with the two bad QSOs I have and leave them. If later LoTW
allows for corrections, I can find the 'BAD QSO' remark and delete then.
LoTW is an easy to use secure system that does not allow tampering. But it
can not be protect against a stupid errors such as I did. It is without a
doubt a great way to verify the Q's in your log with our fellow hams in
their electronic logs.
Summary - A deleted or changed Call in your DXbase log will not reflect
changes in LoTW.
Thanks to all those who help.
73 Eric.
P.S.
In my log I found that I had worked W1AW - yet no LoTW confirmation from
them - What gives? "Do as I do, not as I say!"
