I hope that Jack and his fellow developers take some time to read the
'wishlist requests'. I have seen some excellent suggestions.
Admittedly, I am not a power user and for the most part DXBase fits my needs
as a simple log program quite nicely.
There is one feature I would like to see fixed before I consider upgrading
this year - that is the ability to copy and paste a callsign from one
programme to the DXBase log CALLSIGN entry window.
The website says DXBase has been written with standard programming
techniques, yet copy and paste to the callsign entry window does not work.
Please consider the following, if I operate a casual CW QSO. I type parts of
my QSO in a Window's Notepad text screen as I work the CW station. For me,
Windows Notepad is used as my scratch pad. Then as required I would like to
be able to copy from my Notepad screen and paste to the DXBase Log screen.
Other entries in the log such as Name, QTH, Notes can be used this way but
NOT CALLSIGNS.
What do the PSK, RTTY and other data modes operators do with no ability to
Copy and Paste callsigns?
I have asked for a reasonable explanation as why DXBase works this way or
even a simple work-around with no reply.
Please, can Copy and Paste be made to work in the Callsign entry window?
-----------------
Though only a minor issue for me, another option I would like to see is the
ability to only start the Screens I need. The QSL info, VHF Packet, Summary
and DX Info windows are all great tools, but I seldom bring them out of the
minimized mode, so why do I need to have DXBase start them?
--------------
VHF Packet - simply; Why? If I do choose to use a DX Cluster window, can it
not be defaulted to the Internet?
------------
Last, if I do choose to use the above screens, can we at least have the
option to dock, or better still move them to a screen location OUTSIDE the
main DXBase window? The Previous QSO window does have this option (and yes
the ability for resizing them would be great).
-----------
DXBase is one of the most powerful and flexible log program I have ever
used. Thank you for allowing us to configure the screen layouts as each
individual operator needs. I just love the way I can make my screen look
like a simple log window, just like the paper log I use to keep on my desk.
Again, thanks for a great program and taking time to consider mine (and
other's) 'wishlist requests',
Eric - VE3GSI.
