[Dxbase] Why LSB/USB designation?

Sandy,
A large number of customers prefer the detail that DXbase provides for 
tracking modes. They like to differentiate between LSB and USB instead of 
just SSB. They also like to identify the unique digital modes that they use 
such as PSK31, BPSK, etc., instead of simply "digital". So, many years ago 
DXbase incorporated this kind of functionality.
The confusion you mention about LoTW is to be expected when we are talking 
about a project as big as what LoTW is. I think the ARRL has done a good 
job in trying to eliminate confusion when it surfaces. Once users 
understand how to use the mapping capabilities for modes in the ARRL's LoTW 
software, it's pretty easy to handle modes effectively while still 
preserving the ability to track mode uniqueness.
