Ron,
You are not alone. I as well as two other customers that I know of, engaged
in similar conversations and email messages on the same subject.
As long as folks are willing to spend huge amounts of money regardless of
the RS232 interface shortcomings, I guess there never will be any incentive
for the makers of radios to do anything differently.
Sad as it may be, it just won't get any better unless prospective customer's
do something about it. Imagine if folks wouldn't buy the radio because of
the flaws in the interface. I bet it wouldn't take long before a new eprom
was made available to fix it. But when folks buy the radios anyway, they
get what they ask for...
