[DXBase] CW keying problem from VR2GA

I have the same type of issue with XP and DXbase 2004. No CW from COM port
but do have it from LPT, but the spacing/timing/quality is not acceptable.
It's not a case of the PC not having enough resources; the PC is a Dell 8300
with a 3G hyper threading CPU and 1G of RAM. Writelog CW is fine.

Hi Jim:
Well, I went to work for quite a while on your suggestions. I even
reinstalled DXB2003 trying to get the DXB98 driver into the ini file, etc. I
even tried to run CW from DXB2003 but now even that wouldn't work when it
did before. I still believe the program keys the XCVR because when DTR is
selected as high, the XCVR is continuously keyed.
Now, when accessing the registry, I did not see two sets of entries after
reinstalling DXB2003. Maybe that is part of the problem. Any more ideas?
Thanks for whatever help you can give.

when I installed dxbase 2004 after using 2003, I did all the normal things.
when you installed it it should have left several entries under Start ->
Programs -> DxBase 2004. one of these would be DXB Driver Setup. Select
W98 when you run it separate from DxBase itself. then if you go to the
registry and look, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> System -> Services -> VxD ->
DriverX then you should see a series of entries of the form Dxb24 COM1 ...
and assuming you upgraded from 2003 a second set of the form Dxb98 COM1 ...
This is what I see right now.
The main key for getting this going was this tip:

I edited C:\Windows\Dxb2004.ini as Paul suggested and voila it works just
fine. Don't know for sure why but it sure made the difference. I am using
parallel port keying with a circuit. Now 2004, 2003 work just fine.
good luck.
