After years of inactivity on CW I'm trying to get my head and my station =
setup back into the groove. Like lots of others, I'm having trouble =
getting DXbase2003 to send CW. I've reviewed many of the archive posts =
and tried several setting changes all to no avail.
I recently tried the suggestion from Larry, K2GN, from Nov. 03, 2003 =
about using the drivers in CwType. I successfully installed CwType and =
it keys the rig ok, as does Writelog, but DXbase remains obstinate. =
Also tried the settings suggested by JV, KT4U, to no avail. By the way, =
where is the RTS setting switch? I see a check box for DTR under both =
the TNC tab and HF Radio tab, but have no idea where the RTS setting box =
is located.
Here is my setup:
Radio is IC-756PRO
Computer is Compaq Presario laptop, Pentium III 700 mhz, Windows ME, 128 =
meg RAM
Internal DXbase CW keyer active & using Dxb98 Com1 setting to a =
Rigblaster Plus
Rigblaster Plus Key Out jack connected to IC-756PRO straight key jack on =
radio back
HF Radio tab set to Com2, 9200, N, 8, 1 and it works for rig control
Bencher paddle connected to IC-756PRO ELEC-KEY jack with internal keyer =
on and functional
Not using any of the suggested interface schemes from DXbase, Writelog, =
CwType, W1WEF, etc. Cannot see the need for extra cabling and circuits =
since I can key the rig through the Rigblaster in Writelog and CwType, =
both of which also use the DTR and RTS lines with no problem. Since =
both these programs can key the rig through the Rigblaster, the internal =
Rigblaster jumpers are apparently set correctly.
So what gives? Why is there so much confusion and difficulty over =
getting DXbase2003 and 2004 to key a variety of rigs on CW? It seems =
like this ought to be a pretty straight forward activity. I have to =
think there is a configuration problem somewhere. I'm not that versed =
on the ini file settings or what to look for in the registry. Any help =
would be greatly appreciated.
