DXBase does not yet have LoTW import capability. At this point you
would have to Q by Q update your DXBase log manually from the LoTW pages
for the matches you get. Knowing this I thought I might assist my
effort a bit by downloading the 'full download report' offered on the
LoTW page, then I imported this into an EMPTY DXBase log for the purpose
of preparing a printed report which would be easier to use. Still I
would have to hand enter the information into my regular data base, but
could maybe save some eye strain. It didn't help much, and I got quite
a lot of import errors where apparently there was incompatibility
between the LoTW's implementation of ADIF and DXBases's version.
There is a lot of merit in waiting for DXBase to be updated so all this
can be performed automatically.
In the mean time I would recommend uploading your data to the LoTW.
After getting your matches, only enter the ones which you recognize to
be of exceptional value to your log, things which you actually need. In
reviewing my 750 matches I would say only a handful are of significance
at this point.
A DXBase LoTW import system will I think have to offer many options, for
example will it only update the QSL received column, or will it update
other fields such as zones, grids, state, county, and only then if these
fields in your log are currently empty? Also what happens if you upload
the same LoTW entry a second time..which is surely going to happen.
We really do need this capability, but it must be done with care.
