Hi Jack,
If you are running Outlook 2000 w/SP1 or Outlook XP (Outlook 2002), the
application will prevent any attachment that represents a file that can =
be
executed from passing through.
You can not defeat this 'security' feature from Outlook. However, you =
can
modify Outlook's 'Level 3' registry entries that define which of these
files can not be passed through. If you are confident in modifying your
registry, go to Microsoft's Knowledge Base and down load Knowledge Base
Article 318515 or 284414 (Outlook 2000 and 2002 (XP) respectfully).
An easier method is to buy ZoneAlarm PRO firewall (not the free version)
which has email attachment security. This application renames the
attachment before Outlook 2000 SP1 or XP prevents them from passing. =
You
look up in ZoneAlarm Pro's log to determine what the file type was =
before
ZoneAlarm changed it, and then rename the attachment file back to is
original file name. Hey, Doesn't everyone need a firewall?

Subject: [DXBase] Who knows about Outlook
Anyone know why so many folks are finding that Outlook blocked the .reg =
file
attachment we email to them as an attachment? Is there some option in
Outlook that could be changed to allow this file to be accepted by =
Outlook?
Help
Courtney
