[DXBase] Problem...and a solution

While using the section wizard with Auto Detect New Ones and either
Countries or US States and with Individual Mode and Individual Band
selected, I noticed that it was selecting a number of Q's for which I had
received cards and had entered the Q as confirmed. Confirmed Q's would not
be new ones..so something seemed wrong.
I traced this down to Q's for which Valid had Mixed checked but Mode
unchecked. These Q's were also later than 1974, where I would have expected
Mode to be checked. See the ARRL DXCC rules regarding CW prior to 1975 as
to instances where mode would correctly be unselected.
Further I found that all the 'offending' Q's were from mid 1998, and were
all contest Q's. The best I can figure is that during that time an ADIF
import resulted in a number of Q's with valid mode unchecked. I don't know
why this would be, it didn't happen in later ADIF imports.
Since thousands of Q's were potentially involved correcting this problem
might have been time consuming, however I was able to isolate these Q's
using Access-97 and hand correct the roughly 100 Q's which had the error.
To see if your log also has these errors, do the selection wizard process I
describe, and print out the selected Q's in screen format to see if it
includes confirmed Q's, or better yet use Access-97, and sort on the valid
column to see if you have al number of '1's after 1974 which represent mixed
selected and mode unselected.
