[Dx-qsl] The Future?

This will be my last post. If the award is gonna be for a dxcc for remote operations only then that would be alright in my mind. If not then it is cheating, plain and simple and the award becomes meaningless
How people can even consider this as anything else baffles me.
I guess everyone must live with there own conscience.

Subject: Re: [Dx-qsl] The Future?
We recently had a great discussion in the UK about remote operation and
DXCC.
Personally, to me the internet is just an extension mike, keylead and
headphone lead. HOWEVER,
for DXCC purposes, I cannot operate a remote station lets say in
Canada, and add to my DXCC total
from Scotland. The transmitter and aerial are in a different DXCC Country.
Would I have to hold a personal VE licence to operate a transmitter in
Canada whether by remote means or if
I am actually there. That could be one form of test, but I bet the
licensing authorities have not even heard
of remote operation.
I do know that in the UK I am responsbible for those whom I allow to
operate my station and my licence has particular
instruction in that possibility. EG I am not allowed to let
unlicensed people speak into my microphone - with a couple of exceptions.
I would have to verify that any remote user was properly licensed, but
where. In Europe we have CEPT, so my licence and most
other European licences are good within europe. We merely add the
location of the country we are operating from, to our call, like
DL/GM4FDM, F/GM4FDM, so it is clear where qwe are operating from. I
am also sure that the CEPT licence does NOT permit remote
operation.
Again, personally I have no problem with remote operation from within
one's own country. Like I build a big 4 element yagi for 80m
on top of a mountain and operate it remotely from home. Thats clearly
OK. OK, so the USA is a big place, but going by
MY principles if a W6 (real) operated a remote station is say, Maine,
because he is still within his own DXCC Country, I guess
I'd have to accept that and let that go. You may feel that is
unsportsmanlike for 160 or 80m but I guess technically no laws are being
broken.
No DXCC rules are being broken.
I'm not sure if there are distances involved, perhaps some of the more
knowledgable might say, but if I move house from Glasgow to Aberdeen
(I'm still in Scotland) so it would not affect my DXCC standings or
ratings. I would just carry on as usual.
What happens in the US or Canada? If a California station re-located
to New York, does his DXCC status remain the same and he can add to his
current totals from New York? IF HE CAN, then what is different about
a Californian operating a New York station remotely or vice versa.
If a Californian wants to operate a remote station in England, then that
would be totally different.
My 2p worth.
