"unfair advantage, compared to other operators..."
But that's all we talk about, right? "easier on the east coast"; "can't
work HI or AK on 6m from the east for my WAS, the western guys have it
easy"; etc. etc. etc.
If I'm in the west and I use an east coast remote...it's not unfair
compared to other east coast operators. So is the unfairness boundary
drawn around your physical, corporeal presence?
You can work 6m DXCC in EU by shouting out a window. So?
And per my question yesterday, if I drive to the east coast instead with
my mobile station, how is that any different?
There are always going to be people with more money, time, ability to
work the rare ones. You have to play the cards you have in your hand.
Believe me, no one would like a bit of an advantage more than I! I've
been stuck at HR-1 for way too long, and all I've got is a Titan DX at
home, and my mobile setup. I've very nearly made that coast-to-coast
drive for the one to put me over the hump...but when I do get over that
hump, I'll have my own mental endorsements that make it
worthwhile..."nearly all mobile"..."small home station"..."all from the
western US". Maybe I'll break down and lose some of those mental
endorsements...I don't know. If you decide those aren't important for
you--knock yourself out.
