That is another story. There is a city of Sarepta, LA with postal code 71071. City of Sarajevo postal code is 71000 and I have received lots of envelopes with Sarepta, LA stamp. Sarepta post noticed the sorting error and mail was received over here with delay but OK.

I had a short conversation with a clerk at the local post office on Monday while picking up air mail stamps.

On the one hand, he insists we no longer "need" the (now discontinued) blue (or the older yellow) USPS 19B Airmail stickers on letters, or even to stamp them "Airmail," since
(a) everything now goes airmail
(b) the wonderful sorting machines of the USPS handles everything automatically.

Except when, oh, they send a letter intended for the Republic of Georgia to the US State of Georgia.

Or they misread a 5 digit overseas postal code as a US ZIP code and reroute the letter domestically.

...his response to THAT was that it HAD to be my fault for hand writing the address information. At which point, I showed him the envelopes going out, all printed on a nice, neat, inkjet printer, and assured him that I always send my outgoing mail that way to try and avoid that issue.

His respone? "Uh... I'm sorry sir, there's a line waiting. Next!"

One of USA HAM's sent E-mail the other day asking to confirm my address as his letter to me was returned as undelivered. After E-mails exchanged he told me that USPS returned his letter and it could be that USPS had some glitch in their sorting system which triggered some mail for return.

My first question would be, what address is he using?
If there's something as simple as a typo on the street address, or in the ZIP code, that could explain it.
