I'll second that. When I lived in the Philippines, in a gated community, we
paid a "service charge" bribe to our mail carrier to insure delivery of our
mail. Needless to say, mail rather than the local mail came to me via the
APO at the embassy mail room. My neighbors who did not have APO privileges
would never get their magazines or greeting cards that could have money
inside, etc.

It's become an American tradition over the past few decades to bash
every government service. Perhaps some deserve it - but many
definitely DON'T. If you lived a significant part of your life abroad,
as I did, you would be thankful for the many fine services offered by
the good ol' US of A - ESPECIALLY by the USPO. I can't recall when I
last had a screw up in my personal mail, and I consider their service
outstanding.
Every time I go to the mailbox with a QSL to a German manager for
example, with its 98c US airmail stamp, I realize that inside that
envelope are 3 x 1ドル to cover the approximate 2ドル.25 cost for our German
friend to return exactly the same type of card to me. What a bargain
we have!
John, NT5C.
