To all the so called "gentlemen" who wrote those cynical replies: 
The guy was only asking you for help, not ridicule.
How about you give him some slack? None of you showed him any respect 
whatsoever. He is a fellow ham using this reflector to gain some 
information that he feels he needs. Show some courtesy .....

Tim, perhaps what you are referring to and what may be confusing you, is 
that there is a stat holiday in some countries in the month of August. 
In Canada, it falls on Aug. 3rd (Monday) and yes, everything is pretty 
well shut down, but only for that day.
I don't know if this helps you or not, but as you may have gathered from 
all the crude replies, Europe does not shut down in August. I wouldn't 
worry about mail delivery for any time of the year.
