Thanks to Al & Peter & all others who replied. I greatly appreciate the
feedback.
I think the "meat" of the issue is having someone, anyone (other than me)
verify the contact in the log and fill out the QSL card. Unf, the logs are
not available. My question was whether or not me filling out my own card
was allowable in the event of the SK op. No funny handwriting hijinx or
anything planned on my part, it would be obvious that I filled it out and I
would answer as such when asked. My question (now answered) was about the
legit nature even with non-malicious intent, and it's clear that this is a
no-go. (kudos to Carl K8AV, who pointed out that me saying "I am 100% sure
of my contact" means nothing until the log has been reviewed independently).
On a related topic: are QSL cards acceptable if there are any corrections
indicated on them? Different ink colors? These would have been done by the
DX station, not me. For example, what if the the info was in black ink but
the callsign was in blue? I have a couple like this. I also have some
where the DX op overwrote a time character (e.g., turned a 9 into an 8).
Nothing fishy, but it is obvious and verification of authenticity is my word
only. How are these handled during verification? I presume they are
rejected?
And a final question: for N8S, I worked them on 40 CW and 20 CW. I tried 30
CW but did not work them (so I thought). Then I saw the logbook online
showing 30 CW as a contact for me. There was so much QRM on N8S signal on
30 CW that I was not sure. I could have heard my call, but I did not log it
on my end because I was not sure. I don't want desire to overcome ethics on
DXCC. What are the rules and/or generally accepted best & honest practices
here? How do you folks handle these? No credit, since I did not log it?
