Here is my thrill on QSLs received today that I wrote into my blog and want
to
share with you guys:
When I opened my post office box today, I got a thick envelop. I noticed
it's from
Russia and as soon as I tear the envelop I couldn't believe QSLs inside are
those
of Vlad's African trip between 2005 and 2007 - nothing couldn't make me
happier!
I know cards from Vlad are coming out, but I couldn't bellieve they reach me
so
quickly!
Every card has a wonderful picutre with commentary on the back:
5H3VMB: my good friend - Nyuki, Kwale Island, Tanzania
5H3VMB/5 AF-074: traditional restaurant, Songo Songo Island, Tanzania
5H3VMB/3 AF-075: a women with her child from Kwale Island, Tanzania
5X1VB:Judith, wife of Dave, 5X1DF, Uganda
5Z4/UA4WHX AF-040: a happy man from the island of Lamu, Kenya
5Z4/UA4WHX AF-067: our great host and good friend from Wasini Island, Kenya
7Q7VB: a menu at one of the few restaurants in Livingstonia, Malawi
9X0VB: a traditional ceremony of engagement. East of Rwanda
D20VB: Angola - peace after a long and exhausting civil war.
V51VV: penguins on Possession Island, Namibia
Z2/UA4WHX: 50,000 Dollars - a price of an apple in Zimbabwe
Thank you so much, Vladimir Bykov!
I didn't try to make contacts when Vlad was operating from 4L, 4K, J2, ST,
A2, D6,
7P, 5R and etc of which country I have already confirmed 7-8 bands,
otherwises I
would have been able to receive many more beautiful cards from Vlad.
A little regret is that I was not in Vlad's log for C91VB/6 AF-088 and a QSO
on 30m
for 9J2VB which are new ones to me. Vlad wrote a note for "No QSO"s.
Thanks again to Vlad. Those nice QSL cards have confirmed 4 new IOTA
(AF-067, 070,
074,075) points which makes my IOTA score 750+ for an IOTA plaque of
excellent,
and 9 DXCC new band points for my DXCC Challenge 2300+. Most of all, 9X
makes
my #331 for DXCC Honor Roll. Now I only need VK0H, 4U1UN, and 3 difficult
ones in
the Carribeans Sea - KP1, KP5 and YV0.
You made my day, Vlad! Best 73!
David Zhou, BA4DW
