My USPO also provides free these "PAR AVION/AIRMAIL" labels which you can stick
on your envelopes for international mailing.

I'm not sure airmail envelopes or even rubber stamps are required, at 
least from the U.S. My local post office provided me with AIRMAIL 
stickers for free, but I noticed on the USPS web site that the 
minimum weight for international surface mail is now 16 ounces and 
the cost for this is much more than that for one ounce letter-post 
(airmail).
