Fred, you beat me to it. There's a clerk who knows me by name ever since I
had some unusual transactions to conduct (one was several boxes of new QSL
cards that arrived on different days from LZ1JZ via registered mail and I
forget the other). These transactions are as "social" as we got, but every
time I go in there she knows it might be something "weird". Also helps if
you're pleasant, no matter how difficult. Surly customers are a dime a
dozen. Yes, some of those behind the counter seem to be a few cards shy of
a full deck. Try to find the one with not only the full deck but the
jokers too.
It's like anything else.....if they know who you are, you'll get some
slack. But that cultivation has to start well before "zero hour".
