Well, V5 on 80 isn't exactly common, but I did work a team of SP ops
over there in 2005, so it does happen. If you don't feel like sending
registered, just send direct and you may get lucky. Just mask the
contents of your letter carefully, don't put any callsigns on the
envelope, make it look like a business letter...even get the post
office to meter it rather than use stamps. Seal up the seams with
packing tape, too. I've had pretty good luck that way. Or see if you
can get some V5 postage stamps and maybe that would work.
I wouldn't give up on it, that's for sure. Remember, many (including
yours truly) have gotten cards back from him through regular mail as
well as Registered. I just went registered because it was one card
for 4 bands and I'm hot after a 9-band DXCC <grin>.
