In the late '60s, IRCs sold for 0ドル.15 at the post office. But in those
days a single IRC was only good for a reply by surface mail. For
airmail, you had to send more than one. There was a chart in the front
of the Callbook which said how many IRCs were needed for an airmail
reply from each country. Usually it was 2 or 3, but a few countries were
as high as 7. At that time the overseas airmail varied by destination.
It was 0ドル.10 to South America, 0ドル.15 to Europe, and 0ドル.25 to Asia,
Africa, and the Pacific.
Even in those days, IRCs were being re-cycled by QSL managers. I kept
one that was stamped in 1956 at which time they were selling for 0ドル.13
at the post office.
