Subject: [Dx-qsl] question of mailing direct to buros
Have any of you forwarded cards direct to overseas buros, versus sending
them to the ARRL outgoing buro? I have a feeling that it would be
cheaper to mail some of these directly overseas since many of them are
intended for individual large buros such as the UK, France, Japan,
Germany, Netherlands, etc.
NENAD: This is what I advse to all my QSL clients.
Large volumes of QSL cards for DX bureau should
be sent directly to DX bureau.
Use surface mail, since most of QSL bureaus
do the same. Takes about 4-6 weeks to deliver
overseas, week to continental US.
This reduces the remaining QSL volume to small
quanitity, whcih you can send to national QSL
bureau. RAC (VE) bureau provides 4 kg allowance
free for RAC members.
What would be the cut off weight to warrant such action? In other
words, a half pound of cards sent to Germany, versus paying the ARRL to
sort the box, and mail the cards to the same German address, plus my
postage to Ct. for them to do so.
NENAD: it all depends on the volume.
- Up to 100 gr (4 oz) letter (airmail)
- Small packet (250 gr, 500 gr, 1kg, 2 kg) surface or air.
- Parcels (anything more than 2 kg). Please ask for the minimum
size of the parcel
Another question is: Where is a list of all overseas buro addresses?
