FWIW, in the UK one IRC will purchase postage for up to 20 grammes to a 
European destination and postage for up to 10 grammes to a destination 
outside Europe.
 From experience I know that a single, two sided card, plus envelope etc. 
weighs about 6 grammes. Four sided cards such as D68C plus an envelope 
weigh just over 10 grammes. Six sided cards such as 3Y0X plus an 
envelope weigh around 15 grammes.
Thus, 2 IRCs are necessary for a single D68C card to be sent outside 
Europe.
I make no comment about the organisers of any DX-pedition choosing to 
use four or six sided cards.
I believe that most postal administrations have a similar (although not 
identical) ranges of weights.
