Hi,
I am just a 'small-time' player as a QSL Manager, and I can only state
what *I* do, and try to achieve.
Looking at G6PZ.
For contest operations, I 'usually' get the logs within 2-3 weeks of the
event - once they have been 'sanitised'.
By then I will probably have a few directs......they are dealt with
usually within hours of getting the logfiles.
For normal ops, I get logs about once a month, so if someone out there
is in a hurry, you'll just have to wait......If I have the log then the
requests are turned round 'same day'. As an example the post was late
today [for a saturday], and I have 7 envelopes to go to the PO on
Monday, having already taken 12 this morning [and the dog had short legs
to start with - Hi!]
For Z21KF.
I do not have full logs......but e-mails fly back & forward to Zim 2 or
3 times a week.....so delays are minimal.
Bureau Cards.
Bearing in mind that I handle the M5 series of cards for the RSGB. when
the box[es] arrive from HQ they are always done first. Having said that,
if I receive a box on say a Monday [the last one contained just under
3,000 cards all up.] The M5's are usually sorted, weighed and enveloped,
and at the PO by Wednesday pm [He loves me when I walk in with that lot
!]
Then I go on to the others.....Z21 first, as I need to send the e-mail.
Looking at the last box,I note that the return box to RSGB Buro was
posted on the Friday weighing in at just over 2kg. That was received in
London on the Monday.........just in time for the US of A cards to be
crammed in the ARRL box which went out that evening............Not Bad
eh ?
TX4/ZK3 and when the logs and cards arrive 6O0CW are [in theory - Russia
please note <smiles>] all Buro, so dont come into the 'how quick'
question.
To put it bluntly, I don't like having requests lying around, and I
think that most QSL Managers feel the same way, although some who handle
large volumes probably limit themselves to 'a certain amount of time
spent per day'. After all you only need one 'wrong call' in the log to
screw up a steady rhythm.
Having said all that, I too am an Amateur.......ie: I do like to get on
the air, and then I use the services of other managers occasionally to
get cards [ and curse when they don't arrive,or seemingly 'get lost' ]
Anyway, enough rambling........back to 40m,see if I can make myself
heard [highly unlikely]
