[Dx-qsl] IRCs available

Just wondering about the future of IRC's. To me they are something
that gets passed around but rarely cashed in, maybe some DX stations
do cash them in when they mail out a bunch of QSL return cards.
Question: Are the older, smaller IRC's still good? I've seen some DX
stations web sites about their QSL practices stating they accept the
new style IRC only.
How about the expiration date on the newer, larger IRC's? It states
they expire on 12/31/2006. I guess that means Post Offices around the
world will stop accepting them after that date? Will there be a
replacement IRC put into circulation to replace them?
