I have had hams send me just a letter, Bible verses from missionary
hams, or even photo postcards ( not printed QSL cards) confirming QSOs.
From what the DXCC has told me in the past as long as whatever is sent
shows the date, band, callsign(s), etc. it is fine.
When I was in Belize (V31) in the 1980s I made so few contacts that I
talked the hotel where I was staying into giving me enough hotel
postcards, I brought them back and addressed them here from the callbook
addresses, and then sent them back to some friends in Belize who mailed
them with V31 stamps and postmark to make it a little more "official."
One of them went to my XYL Cheryl (WY5H) and the DXCC desk accepted the
postmarked hotel postcard she submitted since that was where I operated
from, with no qualms.
