[Dx-qsl] ARRL DX Contest

John,
Good luck on the 80 M DXCC quest. I had about 30 -35 confirmed on 80/75 &
about 60-65 confirmed on 40 when I decided to get serious about it. Getting
40 done was relatively easy (took just a few months) but it took me almost 3
years to break 100 worked on 80/75.
I'd say my biggest irritation is the few stations who simply refuse to QSL
despite promises to the contrary, even after promises by email or having
been worked more than once. For example, there's an LA6 who I've worked
several times on several bands, but he simply won't send me a confirmation
for the 75 phone contact, even though I've since asked him & he confirms I'm
in the log & he confirms he's received the SAE+IRCs. (Fortunately I worked
someone else for LA). And there's a few stations (such as the UA2 I worked)
who either collect green stamps or are never getting the request in the
first place (and yes, I've asked W3HNK for help and he has tried also). I'm
hoping the new & reworked ones I got last night will fix those problems once
& for all.
Almost as big an irritation are those who take the IRCs or Green $tamps yet
QSL via the bureau, but I know that there are often extenuating
circumstances. Of course, the important thing is to be patient as at least
the card finally arrives; well, patience is a virtue, but some days I feel
far from virtuous!
The Spring contests are a big help. Fortunately, you've got two more shots
(ARRL DX Phone & CQ WPX Phone) in March to put a big dent in things (and
let's hope that late Spring propagation is favorable when CQ WPX CW rolls
around in May, too). I'm still hoping to get a wire in the air by the end
of March so that I don't have to keep borrowing a shack from friends, so you
never know.
And I'd bet even money that if you haven't already done so, you'll bag a JA
on 80/75 long before I will!
Good luck & hang in there!

Ron:
Thanks for the info. I have already checked the NG3K site, and am now
combing through the Pathfinder sources to see what I find there. Just a
few to go now. I spent 2 early am sessions on 80M and picked up 19 new
entities (nearly all SA). Considering I only have 20 out of 45 confirmed
on 80, this will help. That is the only band from 10-80 that I don't have
DXCC on now. I am trying to finish the 5BDXCC. This will help make a dent
in it.
