Thats what makes it so fun, and important that DXing knowledge and style
are learned. I have worked 327 countries with all home built wire antennas and
never more then 100 watts. Took a lot of years though, but why do it in only a
couple.
I think the most important thing about working the DX in a pileup is to
learn the timing. How the DX station is picking up other people. And there
certainly is a fine line between tail ending, or trying to be the last call yelled
in the pileup and covering the who the DX is going back to every time.
And then getting the card, usually requires knowing where to send it, and
how he wants it, and patience. Lots of that.
Yes that the book I was thinking about, the complete DXer, I read it a
long time ago and it is a good one.
