Ron brings up a good point. US airmail rates are based on the ounce.....so anything up to one ounce (approx 28 grams) is 80 cents.
I believe many of the postage rates in the world are based on 10 or 15 grams.....it seems I've seen 10 grams in parts of the world (thus the thin envelopes and thinner QSL cards in use at times). I can get something like 6-7 QSL cards in for an ounce...but at 10 grams...the envelope and a few cards at best are what is possible.
