Rob:
I think 1998 was about the time when Hong Kong reverted to China control
and the prefixes for Pitcairn changed from VR6 to VP6. There is that
possibility for a call mixup. The Pitcairn community is very close knit,
especially in the ham radio sense, and everyone know everyone else. If
you tried to get an email address from one of the old timers there, they
would probably be able to help you. I would recommend QRZ.COM on the
following suffixes (AB, CB, DB, JJ, MW (especially. She was on the VP6DI
Ducie Is. DXpedition), MA, RC, TC). Actually, I just did the check for
you on all of the ones I recommended, and didn't find one email address.
Depending on how bad you need the card, you could write to VP6TC or VP6MW
and I bet you would get the information you seek. They are both still
licensed on Pitcairn today. A lot of trouble, but maybe you need it that
bad. I have worked all of the stations mentioned above, but some have
gone away.
