[Dx-qsl] felt tip pens and glossy qsl card stock - no no

from time to time I get a card that was printed on glossy stock and the qso
information was filled in using a felt tip pen. the ink in this combination
does not stay visible for long - it fades. it is far better to use some
other kind of writing instrument. some of my cards from AB6R days, more
than 5 years ago, are not legible today. cards from long ago that were
filled out with ball point pen or the equivalent are perfectly legible.
when I was working with Don Wallace, W6AM, and his huge qsl collection we
found very few cards from the early days (pre world war 2) that had faded
writing. this must have been before the advent of felt tip pens. virtually
all of the faded or illegible cards were the result of insect/rodent or
water damage.
just a suggestion.
