With all respect, allow me to desagree.
One "greenstamp" is *more than enough* to send a first
class air mail letter from the *majority* of the countries on earth.
Of course I know they are a few exceptions, but what use to
be the exception (2 USD), it's now the rule.
And the cause of that is mostly from the wealthy operators, who
can aford it easy. They are the ones who inflated the level, and
turn it worst for others, the majority, who would be pleased if
could pay less.
As me is concern, I do my best to avoid to loose money (I only
QSL with realible stations/manager). I also avoid (or work another)
stations when I know the operator is asking more than 1 IRC/USD.
On another side, as manager of my Dx activities/special call,
my rule for QSL direct is 1 USD or 1 IRC. Anyone who sends
more than that will have it back. I know I can keep it, but I don't
think it's fair! And I'm proud to say I have return hundrents of USD.
Call me whatever do you want. This is the only way I understand it.
And as far as manager costs is concern, what is left from a direct
card, is enough to pay for 15 bureau cards (if sent to Europe, 23 buro
cards can be sent instead). I know this is valid in Portugal/REP case.
But maybe other coutries are not that diferent...
Honestly, I'm sick and tired of this kind of talk
But hopefully LoW will be a reality soon, and all of this
will be nothing but old timers stories...
See you on the bands
